Dragonsbane, meet Dragon's Rider...

Description

... and the Dragon, of course.

So, clearly, this isn't what it looks like, with two naked men at a lake staring at each other ... wait, no, it's TOTALLY what it looks like. Shortly there will be splishing, splashing, and a very bored dragon going off to dry himself in the warm sun while his human does things that no self respecting dragon would do on dry land. Or wet land, for that matter.

You've all seen al-Kharif, Autumn's herald, and his dragon before. al-Kharif has gotten a slight texture rework, beyond what's required to bring him to Iray from 3Delight. Both he and the dragon have metallic flakes active, the dragon a bit more emphatically.

Luthbel's Dragonsbane is new to the scene, and will be briefly (one hopes) discussed separately, later. In this context, "Dragonsbane" is merely a family name. He doesn't run around cavalierly killing dragons. For one thing, his ancestors were so good at it that there aren't many left, and the ones that are around don't go in much for the whole virgin-munching thing any more.

And the set is Stonemason's Fern Lake. There's an actual HDRI in the scene -- something about sun-sky wound up being problematic. That said, Fern Lake is not only a 360-degree environment, but the backdrops, designed to make the lake look like it's in a bowl, are tallenough that you'd need to aim up into the sky (or get rid of the backdrops) for anything to be seen. Since half the set is behind the camera, I tried hiding geometry to ease system load, but because of the way instancing is handled in the set, it's very difficult to do that and not hide something you need to see.

This is also the first scene that was brightly lit enough that it seemed worth trying Spectral rendering ... and since I've no idea what I'm supposed to be seeing, I don't know what changed or was improved, if anything.

I figure this fits into whatever the War of the Seasons is supposed to be when it grows up. After all, having Autumn's herald canoodling with a Dragonsbane when he himself has a dragon ... well, it's Simply Not DONE! Plus he's going to get framed for ... something. (When I know what it is, you'll be the 32d to know. Maybe. I think.)

The look on that dragon's face is priceless. :) I totally want to get that Dragonsbane dude, but my bank account is not okay with that notion.
