With "rrRabbit!", the "...pour homme?" company began pushing their artistic sensibilities closer to the edge, from several directions. The sheer audaciousness of the ad probably contributed to the success of the "rrRabbit!" cologne and aftershave. First, they got Trey Derek, recently retired from professional football after a catastrophic leg injury cut his promising career very short indeed, to participate in what became the most popular ad campaign in company history. Second, they managed to leverage a well known character from a popular media company ... and, more importantly, to get away with it. "...pour homme?" was sued by said media company, and the case went all the way to the US Supreme Court. Chief Justice Sophonisba Breckinridge Campbell, writing one of her notably acerbic opinions for a unanimous court, stated, "While the general intent to evoke the image of the character at issue cannot be denied, it beggars belief to think that because of the presence of red shoes, red hair, a red dress and a bosom larger than most women could or would want to physically support, anyone could possibly ever mistake the two or even be slightly confused at any point whatsoever."
Oddly, in the first rrRabbit print ad, "...pour homme?" tacked back a bit from the assertiveness in the "Luck" campaign. Perhaps because the ads themselves were so unusual, they felt that the assertiveness might be a bit ... much.
